Activities
A typical day in a Holyrood Nursery will cover all of the following experiences.
Mathematical
All pre-numbered skills using number, colour and shape patterns. Water activities experimenting with volumes.
Science and Nature
A wide range of experiences to incorporate seasons, weather, growing plants and generally exploring the environment.
Language
Stories, book sharing, nursery rhymes and songs as well as maximising the potential of normal everyday situations to encourage language and all aspects of vocabulary development.
Art and Craft
We have art and craft materials available at all times to enable the children to express themselves freely. In addition to this, we structure activities to ensure that your child acquires full experiences in this subject.
Excercise
Our extensive outside play area provides children with the opportunity to exercise on a daily basis (weather permitting). Fun sessions incorporate the awareness of space, timing, awareness, coordination, rhythm, movement and fitness. Once a week a professional Dance Teacher from the Glenda Ann School of Dance comes into the nursery and teaches the children dance moves including Funky Dance, ballet and many more. These sessions are always greeted with great delight by the children. Children receive a certificate at the end of the dance programme.
Outside Play Areas
Our play areas are safe, secure and well equipped and the children remain under constant supervision. All children will spend periods of the day in the grounds unless a medical condition dictates otherwise.
