Our Rooms
Holyrood Nursery, Altrincham is registered for 50 children.
On the ground floor of the nursery there are 4 rooms registered for 0-2 year olds. Two baby rooms - Daffodils and Tulips and two toddler rooms - Buttercups and Daisies. These rooms are all staffed on a 1 member of staff to 3 children ratio. We do lots of activities based around the Birth to Three Matters framework. Examples of activities include heuristic play, water play, topic boxes eg. Round & circle themes, finger painting, and outdoor play at least once a day.
On the first floor of the nursery, there are 2 rooms registered for aged 2 to 3 years old - Bluebells and Roses. These rooms are all staffed on a 1 member of staff to 4 children ratio. Activities are based around the Birth to Three Matters guidelines and include music, dancing, singing, sand and water play, collages, potato printing, story times, artwork and painting. Children also have outside play at least twice a day.
Also based on the first floor is our Pre-School room for children aged 3-5 years. This is staffed on a 1:8 ratio. We employ a fully qualified teacher who uses the Foundation stage as a teaching framework and focuses on the 6 areas of learning. Activities in pre-school are very varied with weekly topics and themes used, frequent outside play, painting, weekly ballet classes, story times, home corner and role play.
With the permission of parents, we also enjoy taking the children out of the nursery now and again to visit local parks, train station or libraries.
